Israeli Forces Demolish Palestinian Home Near East Jerusalem, Rights Group Says

(MENAFN) According to reports, Israeli forces have demolished a Palestinian home in an area between Bir Nabala and Beit Hanina, northwest of occupied East Jerusalem, in a move condemned by a rights organization.

The Bedouin rights group Al-Baidar said in a statement that the house was destroyed in the Arab al-Kaabneh area, describing it as part of ongoing actions affecting Palestinian housing in Jerusalem and surrounding communities.

The organization warned that such demolitions create significant humanitarian and social hardship for affected families, undermining residential stability and long-term community security.

Israeli authorities typically justify demolitions by stating that some structures are built in Area C of the occupied West Bank, which is under Israeli civil and security control according to the Oslo II Accords signed in 1995. Area C comprises the majority of the West Bank territory.

Palestinian rights groups and international observers have long criticized the permit system in these areas, arguing that approvals for construction are rarely granted, leaving many residents vulnerable to demolition orders.

Reports also indicate that dozens of demolition operations have been carried out in recent months, affecting homes, agricultural structures, and other properties.

The broader context includes ongoing tensions in the West Bank, where Palestinians and Israeli authorities frequently clash over land use, construction, and settlement expansion, with international bodies continuing to regard many settlements in the territory as illegal under international law.
