Israeli Airstrike Damages Petrochemical Facility in Southwestern Iran

(MENAFN) An Israeli airstrike struck a petrochemical company in Mahshahr, in southwestern Iran, on Monday, causing partial damage to an industrial site, according to Iranian officials.

Valiollah Hayati, deputy governor for security affairs in Khuzestan province, told reporters: “A few minutes ago, the Karun Mahshahr Petrochemical Company was attacked by the Zionist enemy, and part of this industrial complex was damaged as a result of the projectiles hitting it.”

Hayati said no injuries or fatalities had been reported so far, adding: “Further details about the extent of damage as well as possible casualties will be announced.”

Following the incident, the Mahshahr Petrochemical Special Economic Zone Organization ordered the emergency evacuation of day-shift workers, according to Iranian state media reports.

Later, the Israeli military said its air force had targeted multiple locations within the petrochemical complex and stated that further information would be released.
