Israel Shuts Schools, Beaches Near Lebanon Border Amid Rising Tensions

(MENAFN) According to reports, the Israeli military has announced emergency precautionary measures in areas close to the Lebanese border, including the suspension of school activities and the closure of beaches, as tensions with Hezbollah continue to intensify.

The army said the steps were taken following a security review of conditions along the northern frontier. Under the new restrictions, educational activities in communities near Lebanon will be suspended, while large gatherings are expected to be limited. Coastal areas in the affected zone have also been closed to the public.

Residents in these regions were instructed to stay near shelters and protected spaces through Sunday and Monday, reflecting heightened security concerns.

In the Upper Galilee and the occupied Golan Heights, the military said school activities may only continue in buildings that provide immediate access to reinforced protection areas.

The measures come amid reports in Hebrew media that Israeli forces are expanding ground operations in Lebanon, including the construction of bridges over the Litani River to support troop movement.

At the same time, Hezbollah has reportedly expanded its attacks toward northern Israel, stating that its actions are a response to what it describes as repeated Israeli violations of a ceasefire that began on April 17 and was later extended into early July.

A Lebanese military source told Anadolu that Israeli forces have advanced into areas north of the Litani River, including Zawtar al-Sharqiya and Shaqif Arnoun, moving closer to Nabatieh.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently stated that Israeli troops had crossed the Litani River and reached what he called “positions of control.”

According to reports, Israel’s ongoing military campaign in Lebanon since March 2 has resulted in 3,371 deaths and 10,129 injuries, based on Lebanese official figures.
