Israeli Authorities Detain Protesters Opposing Iran Conflict
According to reports, 13 people were arrested during a protest held at Habima Square in central Tel Aviv. Police stated that participants disrupted public order and did not follow instructions issued by officers at the scene.
Clashes reportedly erupted between demonstrators and security forces during the gathering, leading to the detention of several individuals whom police labeled as “rioters.”
In a separate incident, five additional arrests were made during another protest involving around 100 participants at Horev Junction in the northern city of Haifa. Authorities said those detentions were also related to what they described as disturbances to public order.
These events come against the backdrop of continued military escalation since Feb. 28, when the United States and Israel began conducting airstrikes on Iran. The ongoing conflict has resulted in more than 1,340 deaths so far, including Iran’s Supreme Leader at the time, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
In response, Iran has launched drone and missile attacks targeting Israel, as well as Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf states hosting US military facilities. These retaliatory strikes have led to casualties, infrastructure damage, and disruptions affecting global markets and air travel.
