Israeli Troops Conduct New Incursion in Syria’s Quneitra

(MENAFN) Israeli military units advanced into the village of Sida al-Hanout, located in the southern countryside of Syria’s Quneitra province, on Thursday, marking the most recent operation inside Syrian territory.

According to a news agency, a patrol consisting of three vehicles entered the town and set up a checkpoint at its western entrance. The troops reportedly inspected civilians and impeded traffic for a period before eventually pulling back from the location.

The operation occurred just hours after Israeli soldiers carried out a separate incursion into the village of Ofaniya on Wednesday night. During that maneuver, they launched illumination flares and fired two artillery rounds toward the area surrounding Tal al-Ahmar Ain al-Nouriya in northern Quneitra.

Israeli troops have reportedly maintained almost daily cross-border operations into Syrian land, especially across the Quneitra countryside.

These activities have included detaining residents, erecting checkpoints, interrogating individuals in transit, and demolishing agricultural fields.

Following the collapse of the Bashar al-Assad regime in late 2024, Israel broadened its control over the Syrian Golan Heights by taking over the demilitarized buffer zone, an action considered a breach of the 1974 disengagement accord.

Residents in Syria contend that the ongoing Israeli actions are weakening initiatives aimed at reestablishing stability and obstructing governmental efforts to draw foreign investment intended to bolster the nation’s economic recovery.
