U.S. Reveals USD510M Munitions Shipment to Israel
The potential deal includes 3,845 KMU-558B/B Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) kits for BLU-109 bomb bodies and 3,280 KMU-572 F/B JDAM kits for MK 82 bomb bodies. Additionally, it covers associated technical support, logistics, and engineering, according to a statement from the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA).
“This proposed sale will enhance Israel’s capability to meet current and future threats by improving its ability to defend its borders, vital infrastructure, and population centers,” the DSCA explained.
This announcement comes as Israel’s ongoing offensive against Gaza intensifies. Since October 2023, more than 56,500 Palestinians have died in Israeli strikes, as reported by Gaza health officials.
On Monday alone, Israeli airstrikes and artillery killed at least 97 Palestinians, with many more injured in attacks on multiple Gaza sites, including those sheltering displaced civilians.
The U.S. faces increasing scrutiny and backlash for its continuous military assistance to Israel amid the growing civilian death toll in Gaza.
Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, accusing them of war crimes and crimes against humanity related to their actions in Gaza.
Furthermore, Israel is currently facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its actions in the region.
