Israel Plans Ending Funds for Gaza Border Evacuees
These residents have now been instructed to go back to their homes by the end of July.
This resolution, which was finalized via a phone-based poll among decision-makers, puts an end to provisional housing arrangements for those evacuated from a dozen communities that were significantly impacted by the Hamas-led onslaught.
Military representatives in Israel have stated that, beginning July 1, no more security limitations remain that would stop people from returning to those locations.
The neighborhoods affected include Be'eri, Holit, Kissufim, Kfar Aza, Kerem Shalom, Nahal Oz, Nirim, Nir Yitzhak, Nir Oz, Netiv HaAsara, Sufa, and Ein HaShlosha.
This list was provided by the Tekuma Authority, the body responsible for guiding the recovery efforts of communities situated near the border.
Since the outbreak of hostilities, tens of thousands of individuals had been relocated to hotels and residential units in central parts of Israel.
However, the Hostages and Missing Families Forum condemned the government’s decision, arguing it undermines the very rationale offered by officials for maintaining the military operation in Gaza.
“If there’s no security restriction to returning to the border area, then there’s no justification to prolong the war,” the group declared in a formal message.
“The government has once again proven what much of the public already knows: the threat from Gaza has diminished. It's time to reach a comprehensive deal to return all 50 hostages and bring the mission to a close.”
